Update map
Our Update Map feature is an innovative and unique solution designed to enhance the functionality and accuracy of your robot's localization. This feature allows you to re-scan an area, ensuring that your robot's map reflects the latest changes in the environment.
Purpose
Over time, areas can undergo significant changes that may affect the robot's localization accuracy. These changes could include the addition of new obstacles, structural modifications, or any other alterations that impact the robot's ability to localize effectively. The Update Map feature addresses these issues by allowing you to update the map to its latest state, maintaining high localization accuracy and optimal performance.
How to Use
Using the Update Map feature is straightforward and very similar to mapping. Follow these steps to re-scan and update an area.
1. Choose target area and initial position
Before initiating the process, you must plan ahead the target area and the initial position for the robot.
- Target area is the area with significant environmental changes that you want to update.
- Initial position is the robot's position where you initiate the Update Map process. This position should be near the target area, but it must be in a stable surrounding environment. Avoid choosing an initial position within the target area itself.
After decided, move the robot to the selected position.
2. Initiate Update Map
On the Live page, click on the Update Map button on the top bar. If initiated correctly, you will see the interface updated similarly to the mapping mode (features are limited, and map is constantly updated).
3. Move the robot around target area
This step is similar to when you do the mapping. Keep a steady and moderate speed to move the robot around the target area. Make sure the lidar sensors capture all the area that you want to update. After satisfy with the updated map, move the robot back to the initial position.
4. Finish Update Map
In the update map mode, there will be 2 buttons on the top bar:
- Cancel: You can use this button anytime during the process. This will revert all the updated data, and the system will take you back to the original map.
- Confirm: Use this button to conclude the update process. Robot will be operated on the new map. The new map will be named with the version postfix (v1, v2, et cetera).
